In 1994 a missionary came
across what she thought was an abandoned building behind a large state orphanage in the
Central Asian city where the
Lord had led her and her
husband. When she entered
the building she discovered it
was not abandoned at all. Inside was a maze of rooms holding myriads of children with mental and physical handicaps that have been left there to die. It was a house of death. Children were dying weekly. Those who died were quickly replaced by others left there to die. They lay in their own waste; some of them ate their waste. Their skin was covered with infections; worms ate through their stomachs to their hearts; their legs were blue from frostbite.
The missionary loved and nurtured these children back to health. Not all survived, but those that did are a living example of the miraculous power of God’s love. Today that same building where children were literally starving to death is now a safe haven where 405 mentally and physically challenged orphans are cared for.
ChildCry provides the funds to feed the children living in the orphanage. |
