A whirlwind of sounds, colors, and movement conspires to envelop a visitor in the frenzy of this mega-city. Dhaka, Bangladesh is where 7 million people live, work and play; all adding to the dust and dyes of this frenetic city.
Do not be afraid; God has heard the boy crying. Genesis 21:17
Here, over ten years ago, God gave a pastor a vision to feed and educate children in the very slum areas they call home. The miracle of the Bangladesh Compassion Schools started, and continue today, in small enclaves of their home neighborhoods. The schools are housed in simple apartments with no curtains on the windows and a plain white coat of paint on the walls. If the black board and other simple school supplies were taken out, all that would remain would be an abandoned apartment.
In Dhaka, World Challenge and ChildCry are partnering to support four of these Compassion Schools. World Challenge supports the education process, while ChildCry supplies financing for the food. In these small schools, it’s hard to imagine 550 children are educated and fed. But through miraculous scheduling, and management of the students, they are able to provide for every child, every day.
